Why RecurX Charges Zero Transaction Fees on Subscriptions

Most Shopify subscription platforms take a cut of every renewal. We think that misaligns the platform against the merchant — so RecurX charges a flat price instead.

The dominant pricing model for Shopify subscription apps is a monthly fee plus a percentage of every transaction. It looks small on the pricing page — one or two percent — but for a merchant doing meaningful subscription volume, it quietly becomes their largest software bill, and it grows exactly as fast as their business does.

RecurX takes none of it. Plans are flat: a free tier for stores getting started, and fixed monthly pricing as subscriber counts grow. A merchant’s thousandth renewal costs them the same as their first — nothing.

Why we can afford to

Transaction fees exist because they’re easy to charge, not because they reflect cost. Processing a renewal through Shopify’s native subscription APIs costs the platform effectively the same whether the order is $10 or $1,000. Flat pricing means our revenue scales with the number of merchants we serve well — not with a tax on their growth.

What RecurX actually does

Zero fees would be a gimmick if the product were thin. RecurX covers the full subscription lifecycle on Shopify:

  • Recovery — automated dunning that retries failed payments and recovers the large majority of them before they become churn.
  • Retention — a self-service portal where customers pause, skip, or swap instead of cancelling, plus built-in loyalty rewards.
  • Growth — 20 widget templates that match your theme automatically, quick checkout links, and QR codes for offline-to-subscription funnels.
  • Visibility — real-time MRR, churn, LTV, and cohort retention analytics.

Merchants moving from Recharge, Bold, Skio, Loop, or Yotpo get migration support included.

If you sell — or want to sell — subscriptions on Shopify, you can try RecurX free at recurx.app.
